Irene E. Green was born on September 14, 1917 in Ortonville, MN to parents, August and Lillian (Sherman) Scheff. Irene attended and graduated school in Big Stone City, SD. She worked at the Big Stone Canning factory and took care of her mother.
On September 19, 1939, Irene was united in marriage to Byron Green. They moved to Foster Township where they farmed with Byron's father. They took the farm over in 1959. Byron passed away in the fall of 1980. Irene continued to live on the farm and worked at Lagoona Beach Supper Club in Ortonville, MN. Irene then retired and continued to live on the farm until her death.
Irene was a member of the Browns Valley Eastern Star, the United Methodist Church of Beardsley, MN, and was a volunteer at the Browns Valley Nursing Home. Irene enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and knitting.
On Saturday, June 26th, 2004, Irene passed reaching the age of 86 years, 10 months, 12 days.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, August and Lillian; her husband, Bryon Green; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son, David Green of Laurel, MT; one daughter, Karen (Robert) Haugen of Redwood Falls, MN; one sister, Florence Bergstrom of Ortonville, MN; one grandson, Bryan Haugen of Redwood Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
