Herman Ragsdale

October 6, 1924 — October 2, 2010

Herman Charles Ragsdale the son of William and Edna (Moses) Ragsdale, was born October 6, 1924 in Grant, Oklahoma. He attended the Jones Academy that was established in 1891 in the Indian Territory, by the Choctaw Nation. He graduated from Chilocoo Indian School.

Herman enlisted in the Air Force after graduating. He served both WWII and Korean Wars. He was stationed in California and Texas during his term. He was honorably discharged. Herman then worked on construction in California. He met Marjorie Brant while in California and they were united in marriage October 4, 1981. They made their home in Eden, South Dakota where Herman worked on farms as a laborer.



He loved fishing day or night, liked working on vehicles and hunting wild game. Herman was an active man that didn’t believe in being sick or sitting around. He liked playing cards with family and he loved is dog Blue. He belonged to a boxing club while in Oklahoma. Herman enjoyed watching football, his favorite teams were Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings. He was a very generous man to everyone. Herman loved his family most and spending time with his grandchildren



Herman past away with his loving family by his side Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He will be missed by all his family and many friends.



Herman is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Eden, S.D; daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Peterson of Veblen, S.D; three granddaughters, Selena, Jasmine, Nataya and his only grandson Kayden Charles Peterson all of Veblen S.D.



He is preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Edna; brothers: Willford, Raymond, Ike, and Pat.
