Harold Wendland

September 8, 1918 — December 27, 2007

Mr.Wendland, 89, died unexpectedly on December 27, 2007, at his daughter's home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Chuck was born on September 8, 1918, at the family farm in Yellow Bank Township. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1937. He married Olive Gunderson on September 26, 1945 in Odessa, MN. The couple operated their dairy farm on the family's century farm and later cash cropped until retiring in 1990. They continued to live on their farm. They spent winters in California for several years and in the more recent years, with their children in Harrisonville, MO, and Broken Arrow, OK.

Chuck loved the country and the ability to live on the farm his entire life. The couple enjoyed traveling and camping, spending time with their children as well as extended family. In the last several years, Chuck spent hours mowing, trimming and caring for hundreds of trees planted on their land. His faith was an integral part of his life and he was an active member of Gideons International. A faithful church member, he served as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher and deacon. As a school board member, he served his community.

Anyone who had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with Chuck would have the blessing of his humor and ability to connect with others. His last evening on earth was a typical evening for Chuck: enjoying dinner with his family, playing a game with one of his granddaughters and finally, ending the day with his wife of 62 years 'praying for God's blessings on each of their loved ones. Two hours later, Chuck left this temporary life on earth to spend eternity with Jesus in heaven. Blessed be his memory!

Survivors include his wife; children, Bruce (Wendy) of Harrisonville, MO, Cheryl (Gary) Coleman of Broken Arrow, OK, Curtis (Faye) of Byron, MN: 6 grandchildren: Anne, Melissa, Jordan, Sarah, Kaitlyn and Ashley; a sister, Iona Brock of Anaheim, CA. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Paul Robert; brothers, Clifford, Leonard and Vernon; a sister, Gladys Ramm and his parents, George and Mabel Wendland.
