Glenn Hervert

June 12, 1917 — October 6, 2007

Glenn Joseph "Bud" Hervert was born on June 12, 1917. to George J and Bernadine (Saur) Hervert on the family farm near Collis, MN. Glenn was baptized, received his first communion, and was confirmed in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Collis, MN. He attended Collis School and Graceville High School. Following graduation, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN.



Glenn was united in marriage to Catherine B. Shuckhart at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on June 10, 1941, in Graceville, MN. The couple moved to Riverside, IA, where they lived for three years before returning home to farm near Collis. They eventually moved to the family farm where they lived until they moved into Graceville only one week ago.



Glenn loved life on the farm and took great pride working the land and raising livestock and milking cows. Later, Glenn worked for Great Plains Lumber Company in Chokio, MN; however, his true love was farming. A great number of folks from this area have enjoyed the produce from Glenn's gardens. He took great joy in providing his friends, family, and neighbors with the fruits of his labor.



In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed woodworking and crafted many treasures for his family and friends. He was a quiet and caring man who cherished the time he spent with those individuals close to him. He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Graceville, MN. Glenn made and installed all of the present day hymnal holders in the church. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus for over 70 years and he held the distinction of being the longest continuous member of the St. Patrick's Church in Collis, MN, before it was closed in 1989. Glenn was a member of the Tara Township Board for over 30 years and began working as a weather recorder for the U.S. Weather Service in 2002.



Glenn passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2007, at his home in Graceville, MN, reaching the age of 90 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Elaine.



Glenn is survived by his wife, Catherine; four sisters, Delores Gaffney; Marjorie (Jerry) Frisch; Florence (Dick) Griffin; and Bonnie (Virgil) Lotzer; children, Janet (Tom) Skoog; Phyllis (David) Westbrock; Carolyn (Ron) Andrews; George (Brenda) Hervert; and Margaret (Don) Seifert; grandchildren, Greg Skoog; Christine Hoffmann; Tanya Westbrock; Marc Westbrock; Laura Westbrock; Matthew Westbrock; Michelle Hrubetz; Brian Andrews; Sarah Hervert; John Hervert; Brandon Seifert, Kayla Hyden; and Justin Seifert; nineteen great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
