Evelyn Leuthard

August 22, 1910 — September 14, 2010

Evelyn was born August 22, 1910 to Jacob and Lydia (Trost) Zimmerman on a farm north of Chokio, MN in Everglade Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Johnson. She attended high school at Chokio. On September 1, 1940 she married Anthony “Tony” Leuthard.

While married to Tony, the couple lived in Morris. It was there that Evelyn worked at various retail stores including the Walt Ross Men’s store, Knowles, and the Ernst Shoppe. After Tony’s death, Evelyn moved to Chokio in 1976 where she cared for her mother. Evelyn also worked at the Chokio Senior Center for several years. In 2003, she moved to the Grace Home.

Evelyn loved to bake and always had fresh cookies, bars, or pie to offer her visitors. She enjoyed trying new recipes, most included chocolate! Evelyn also loved to dance to old time music. Even after her move to the Grace home, she could be seen dancing a waltz or polka when the band came to play!

Evelyn is survived by sister in laws Fern Zimmerman, Ruth Zimmerman, and Rose Carlson. Evelyn is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents; her brothers Harvey and Alvin Zimmerman; and sister, Geneva Vesterby.
