Estelle Devenney

December 25, 1918 — December 16, 2006

Estelle Mary Margaret (Connelly) Devenney was born on December 25, 1918, in Bemidji, MN, to parents, Martin and Anna (Banahan) Connelly. As a young girl, the family moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Estelle, attended Catholic School and graduated in 1936. Following her graduation he then attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. During her time in college, she met Joseph Devenney.



Estelle and Joseph were married on March 31, 1941, at the Christ the King Church in Minneapolis, MN. The couple made their home in Minneapolis for a short while before moving to Aberdeen, SD, Redwood Falls, and finally Ortonville in the early 1950's. The couple was blessed with one son, Paul.



Estelle loved her family and took great pride in being a loyal and loving housewife, mother, and grandmother. During her working years, Estelle worked as a secretary for Northwest Airlines while still living in the Cities and later worked for Auchstetter as a clerk. Estelle and Joe also operated the Ortonville Greenhouse for a number of years.



In her spare time, Estelle loved to sew and read. She was an avid bird watcher and it was tough to find a bird she didn?t know. Estelle enjoyed helping people and she did so by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. Estelle was a faithful member of the St. John Catholic Church in Ortonville, MN, where she was also a member of the Alter Society. Blessed be her memory.



Estelle passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN, reaching the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Anna; husband, Joseph; and four brothers, Martin, Tom, Fran, and Gene.



Estelle will be remembered by her son, Paul (Linda) Devenney of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, Mary Jo, Angela, Michael, and Joe; ten great grandchildren, Shayna, Lindsay, Victoria, Caleb, Chloe, Isaac, Haden, Chlaire, Olivia, and Reina; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends
