Ervin Gerber

Ervin E. Gerber was born on May 4, 1907, in Odessa, MN, to parents Ida (Haase) and Ewaldt Gerber. He was baptized on May 21, 1907 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa by Pastor Bartling. At the age of 3, he moved to Bertha, MN., where he spent many of his childhood years. Ervin was confirmed on March 20, 1921 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha, MN, by Pastor Mundinger.

Ervin married Dorothea (Dorothy) Pansch on February 24, 1935. The couple lived in Bertha, Minnesota for six months and then moved to the Odessa area where they farmed until they bought a home in Odessa in September of 1970. Ervin loved farming and working at the Lumberyard. In 1986, they moved to Lakeside Apartments in Ortonville. His wife, Dorothy, passed away on September 8, 1990. Ervin remained at Lakeside Apartments until 2001 when he entered Northridge Residence. Ervin loved music and sang duets with his sister, Florence. He loved visiting with his many friends. His memory remained quite good until the age of 97, when he began having light strokes. Ervin and his wife, Dorothy, were active members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa. They loved their church and served there in many capacities.

Ervin passed away peacefully on March 8, 2008 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, Minnesota, reaching the age of 100. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.

Ervin is survived by three children, Elaine (Art) Dove, Verden (Carole) and Virgil (LeVon); eight grandchildren, Debra (Lynn) Bredvik, Denise (David) Croatt, DeEtte (Neal) Wurm, Brent (Jenny) Gerber, Barry (Cathy) Gerber, Greg (Lynn) Gerber, Tami (Charles) Paulson and Michelle (Aaron) Knutson; great-grandchildren, Kipp, Kay and Kelly Bredvik, Wendy and Nathan Croatt, Kristin and Leah Wurm, Rachel and Sarah Gerber, Matthew, Ross and Jordan Gerber, Nick and Alex Paulson, and Abby and Isaac Knutson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; two brothers and two sisters.
