Ephraim Jensen

Funeral services for longtime Stockholm, SD, resident, Ephraim Christian Jensen, age 94, of Milbank, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Elim Evangelical Covenant Church in Stockholm. Pastor Mark Chapman will officiate. Ephraim died on Thursday, March 9, 2006, at Beverly Healthcare in Milbank. Family members are asked to meet in the church basement by 9:45 a.m. Tuesday to attend services. The organist will be Steve Misener and the soloist will be Ron Jensen. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Monday from 5-7 p.m. and in the church Tuesday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Jim Olson, Kevin McGrew, Dave Jensen, Verlyn Hanson, Richard Hansen, and Eugene Noeldner. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Stockholm.
Ephraim Christian Jensen was born on Aug. 13, 1911, in Stockholm, SD, the son of Eiler and Ducine (Hansen) Jensen. He attended elementary school in Stockholm through the eighth grade. Ephraim was united in marriage to Alice Hansen on May 24, 1938, on her parent's farm near Stockholm. Following marriage, the couple resided in Stockholm. He worked at the local gas station in Stockholm and later farmed in Stockholm Township. Alice died on March 26, 1996. Ephraim entered Beverly Healthcare in Milbank on April 2, 1999.
He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Stockholm and when it closed, he attended the Elim Evangelical Covenant Church.
Survivors include one son Lemar Jensen and wife Barb, White Bear Township, MN; two granddaughters, Paula McGrew and husband Kevin, and Wendy Olson and husband Jim, all of Duluth, MN; four great grandchildren: Graham and Soren McGrew and Adrianna and Ciarra Olson, all of Duluth; one sister, Ruth Wade and husband Jim, San Diego, CA; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Jensen, South Shore, SD; Blanche Jensen, Watertown, SD; and Betty Starkey, Pierre, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ephraim was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers, Melvin, Verner, and Hans Jensen.
