Edith Semmler

April 1, 1919 — April 21, 2007

Edith A. (Anderson) Semmler was born on April 1, 1919, in Correll, MN, to parents, August and Cora (Elvecrog) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. As a young girl, Edith attended school in Odessa, and graduated from Odessa High School.



On May 12, 1937, Edith was united in marriage to Archie Semmler in Big Stone City, South Dakota. The couple lived in California for a short time before moving to Odessa and finally to Ortonville in the 1950's. They were blessed with three daughters, Yvonne, Joanne, and Nancy. Edith enjoyed working as a cook for the Odessa School for many years, and she also worked as a clerk in the Odessa Grocery Store.



One of Edith's favorite pastimes was bowling and she belonged to many different teams and bowled many outstanding games throughout the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards and working on crossword puzzles as well as knitting and crocheting. Her quiet time was spent listening to Daniel O'Donnell. She loved her family and friends and cherished memories made over the years. Edith was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ortonville as well as a member of the United Methodist Women.



Edith passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Northridge Residence Nursing Home in Ortonville, MN, having reached the age of 88 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie; five brothers, Arvid, Willard, Leo, Alvin, and Don; and a grandson, David Wiese.



Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Yvonne (Robert) Wiese of Correll, MN; Joanne (Glenn) Nelson of Ortonville, MN; and Nancy (Tom) Scoblic of Ortonville, MN; grandchildren, Beth (Richard) Guse, Richard Wiese, Alison Wiese, Julie (Jeff) Berger, Dr. James (Lorri) Nelson, Laurie (Scott) Maas, Nick (Cindy) Hegge, Shannon Scoblic, Kirstin Scoblic, and Sara (Bill) Schellberg; great grandchildren, Ryan Guse, Brandon Guse, Steven Guse, Mackenzie Moen, Jacob Berger, Rachel Berger, Jennifer Maas, Amanda Maas, Andrew Maas, August Hegge, Zoe Hegge, and Dylan Loraff; one sister, Doris Reichert; four sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
