Dennis Sherod

Dennis Lee was born on May 9, 1959, a twin, to Wilbert and Marlys (Vangsness) Sherod in Ortonville, MN. Dennis was baptized in 1959 at Eidskog Lutheran Church by Pastor Kenneth Anderson. He was confirmed on May 19, 1974 at Eidskog by Pastor John Vagts.



Dennis grew up on the family farm east of Ortonville in Odessa Township. He attended District #48 Country School, James Knoll Elementary School and Ortonville High School, graduating in 1977. Dennis enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard in March of 1976; he served for eight years.



Dennis was united in marriage to Susan Villella on July 15, 1979. To this union, three children were born: Melissa, Nickolas and Nathan. Dennis worked at the Cheese Factory, Lundberg Construction, and most recently Scoblic Construction.



Dennis married Phyllis Keoke in Milbank, South Dakota. They had two children together: Dezeray and Dennis Lee Jr. Dennis lived in various towns in the area, just recently moving to Marietta, MN.



Dennis loved working with his hands and was an excellent carpenter. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and fishing. Dennis had a heart of gold and appreciated having his friends and family around him. Family was important to Dennis and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.



Dennis died on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident; he lived to reach the age of 50 years.



Dennis is survived by his children: Melissa Sherod, Nickolas Sherod-Kleespie, Nathan (Tera) Sherod-Kleespie, Dezeray Sherod, Dennis Lee Sherod, Jr.; granddaughter Grace Sherod; stepchildren: Daniel, David, Dennille, Derick, and Dawn; step-grandchildren: Dontae, Dominick, Diamond, Jaslynn; wife Phyllis; father Wilbert (MaryLou) Sherod; siblings: Barbara (Ed) Tollefson, James (Lori) Sherod, Diane (Pat) Dwyer, Dale (Tracy) Sherod; and many nieces and nephews.



Dennis is preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother; and two nephews.
