Deanna Thomson

March 17, 1937 — January 28, 2010

Deanna Lee Hintz was born on March 17, 1938 in Watson, MN to parents George and Bernice “Beanie” (Berg) Hintz. She was baptized on October 29, 1938 at Zion Lutheran in Ortonville and was confirmed on June 1, 1952 at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville. By Pastor Amon Johnson Jr, Deanna attended school in Ortonville, graduating from Ortonville High School in 1956.



On February 23, 1957, Deanna was united in marriage to Richard Thomson at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville by Pastor Ward. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Debra, David and Paul. Richard and Deanna celebrated 51 years and 11 months of marriage.



Deanna started working at National T. when she was in high school. National T. was then located in the building that is now Pizza Ranch. After her marriage, she was employed for about two years, then choose to stay home to raise her children. In about 1978, Deanna went back to work at National T with David Jones as manager and then worked for Bill Hartman at Bill’s SuperValu for twenty-five years until her retirement in October 2003.



There was nothing that Deanna and her mother could not sew. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed working with her knitting machine, making sweaters for family members. She also made rugs on her rug loom. Deanna also enjoyed knitting, creating sweaters for her grandchildren. After her retirement, she loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, they were her pride and joy.



Deanna entered Grace Home in August of 2009. She died with her loving husband by her side on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Grace Home in Graceville. She had lived to reach the age of 71 years.



The family would like to thank Jo Eastman for all her friendship and care she gave the last two years to Deanna and Richard.



Deanna is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard;three children: Debra Tomsen (John) of Portland, OR, David (Theresa) of Ortonville, MN, Paul (Rose) of St. Paul, MN; and ten grandchildren, Mindy, Sophie, Lily, Justice, Lindsey, David, Paige, Cassandra, Emily, Bradley; sisters: Kathy Olson of Los Oaos, CA, Linda Keller of Greer, SC, and Michelle Hall of Brooklyn Center, MN; brother-in-law, Eugene Meyer of Webster, S.D.



Deanna is preceded in death by her parents George and Bernice “Beanie”; brother Donald Hintz and sister JoAnn Meyer.
