David Jones

July 31, 1931 — April 6, 2008

David Lee Jones passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2008 in Ortonville, Minnesota surrounded by his family. He was 76 years of age and will be missed by his family and many friends.



David was born on July 31, 1931 in Milbank, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church. He attended school in Ortonville and Two Harbors, MN. He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1949. He was a member of the Ortonville National Guard for 7 A�A½ years and served in the Army for 20 months during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant First Class.



He married Beverly Ann Luckhurst on August 24, 1953 at First English Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born; Colleen Ann, Michelle Kay, Larry Lee and Barbara Sue.



David worked for National Tea Food Corporation for 31 years and served as store manager in Mankato, Austin, Willmar and Ortonville, MN. He also worked for Montgomery Ward for 6 A�A½ years. David retired from the grocery business and began his own sporting goods business. He enjoyed collecting sports cards, attending sports card shows, cooking, playing cards and cribbage. You would never miss David on the sidelines for his children and grandchildren's sporting and school events.

David was active in his community through various organizations, served in a variety of positions at First English Lutheran Church, and was a member of the American Legion.



David is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, of Ortonville; his children, Colleen (Brian) Pribyl of Crosby, MN; Michelle (Pat) Daly of Victoria, MN; Larry (Tina) Jones of Duluth, MN; and Barbara (James) Brotherton of Hopkins, MN. Four grandchildren, Ashley Jones of Minneapolis, MN; Tyler Jones of Minneapolis, MN; Kyle Pribyl of Crosby, MN and Patrick Daly of Victoria, MN also survive him.



Military honors provided by the Big Stone Lake VFW #3694 and the Soldiers from Charlie Battery 1-151 FA. Active bearers are David's grandchildren. Honorary bearers are Ray Bergeson, Marv Gess, Bob Hornstein, Glenn Nelson, Mel Reinke, Weston Schneck, Virg Sis, and Wesley Strei.
