Clarice Ward

Clarice Mildred Emilyn (Dehlin) Ward the daughter of J. Clarence and Julia (Hanson) Dehlin in Parnell Township, Traverse County, Minnesota on May 23, 1915. Clarice was baptized and confirmed at Siloah Lutheran Church , Parnell Township. Clarice attended District #11 Country School and graduated from West Central School of Agriculture, Morris Minnesota in 1933.

On May 2, 1937, Clarice was united in marriage to Gerald R. Ward at Clinton Lutheran Parsonage, in Clinton, Minnesota. Clarice and Gerald farmed together for seventy years in Parnell Township.

Clarice was a life time member of Siloah Lutheran Church where she faithfully served as a member of the Ladies Aide, Sunshine Committee, Memorial Committee, and Circle where they made many quilts for the needy. She also taught Sunday school for many years. Clarice enjoyed changing the paraments and candles on the alter and she was a member of the Traverse County Homemakers Club.

She enjoyed baking (especially pies) and spending time in her garden working with her flowers and flowering almond bush. Clarice spent many days and hours fishing with Gerald on Lake Traverse and several times out fished Gerald.

Gerald and Clarice moved to Graceville in January of 1997, into HiLo Apartments. In November of 2002, Clarice entered Grace Home in Graceville, Minnesota. Clarice was called to heaven on Friday, July 2, 2010, at Holy Trinity Hospital in Graceville, MN. Clarice reached the age of 95 years and one month.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Darlene) Ward of Graceville, MN, David Ward of Hankinson, North Dakota; daughter, Janine (Mark) Ringdahl of Chaska, MN; and Daughter –in – law June (Olson) Ward of Brooklyn Center, MN. 8 grandchildren, John Ward, Jeffrey Ward, Jay Ward, Greg Ward, Veronica Hoppe, Anita Ward, David Ringdahl , and Chris Ringdahl; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Pring of Madison; brother, Lester (Ellen Ann) Dehlin of Alexandria, MN, sister – in- law, Dorothy Thomas of Pierz, MN; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald R., Ward; son Glen A. Ward; five infant siblings.
