Catherine Chalupnik

January 8, 1913 — October 8, 2007

Catherine Veronica (Ritter) Chalupnik was born on January 8, 1912, on a farm in Stevens County near Chokio, MN, to parents, Henry and Josephine (Hoffmann) Ritter. As a young girl, she was baptized and received her first communion at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. She attended country school near Chokio and later attended High School in Graceville, MN.

In 1934, Catherine was united in marriage to Elmer Andrews in Graceville, MN. Together the couple made their home in Graceville for 25 years before Elmer's passing in 1959. Love would find Catherine again, as she married Frank Chalupnik at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. The couple made their home on a farm near Graceville for a few years before moving to California for a short time and then to Minneapolis before returning to the farm near Graceville after Frank became ill.

Catherine was a hard worker, always making sure the men on the farm were always well taken care of. She also worked as a waitress and as a cook in area cafAAC.'s and even ventured in running her own cafAAC. for a short time.

In her spare time, Catherine enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers. In her younger years, she and Elmer looked forward to weekends and attending area dances. Catherine had a big heart and was always willing to help where needed. She cherished time spent with family and friends visiting, especially with her sister Florence. Her joy of cooking continued throughout the years as she always had something prepared for her guests to take home with them. Her zest for life and caring ways will be missed by those that loved her and called her friend.

Catherine passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007, at her home in Graceville, MN; reaching the age of 95 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Josephine; her husbands, Elmer in 1959, and Frank in 1987; and nine brothers and sisters, Matt, Jim, Ray, Florence, Edith, Elizabeth, Margaret, Henry and Ralph; brothers-in-law, Roy Andrews; and Lyle Andrews; and sisters-in-law, Louise Winters; Ruby Parkins; and Erma Petersdorf; and a nephew, Bob Needham

Left to cherish Catherine's memory are her step children, Martha (Gene) Fischer; Charles (Beverly) Chalupnik; and Marcella Buirge; step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren; brothers in law, Ralph Andrews; Arlo Andrews; and Jerry Andrews; sisters-in-law, Ione Bechtholb; Elrine Bennett; Janet DuBeau; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
