Carol was born on August 3, 1938, at Milbank, SD, to Harvey and Violet (Hanson) Wendt. She grew up in Twin Brooks and attended grade school there. She completed two years of high school in South Shore.

She worked at Flanery's Meat Packing Plant in Milbank for several years until her marriage to Darwin Dockter on June 23, 1963, in Twin Brooks, SD. Following marriage, they lived on a farm south of Twin Brooks.

Carol was a farmwife and mother. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, and soon had a great number of people requesting her skills for making wedding cakes and cakes for other important celebrations.

She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. She was a very loving grandmother and enjoyed spending as much time as possible attending her grandchildren's school and church activities, as well as teaching them many valuable lessons. She just enjoyed being a "Grandma." She involved her grandchildren by teaching and sharing her joy of cooking, sewing, gardening, and working with flowers.
