Beverly Jacobs

Beverly A. Jacobs, the daughter of Frank and Elsie (Volesky) Steffan was born November 16, 1947 in Dickenson, North Dakota. She attended St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic School in New Hradec, North Dakota. Her family moved to Graceville in 1962, she attended graduated from Graceville High School in 1965. Bev was united in marriage to Jerry Schmidt June 4, 1966 at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton. Together they owned Cootas Cove in Dumont. They were blessed with two children, Curt and Christy.

On February 5, 1982 Bev and Gary “Jake” Jacobs were married at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Dumont, MN. They were blessed with two children in this union, Kayla and Karle. They moved to Watertown in 1988 and Bev worked at Midcom and CoEv.

In 2004 they moved back to Graceville, MN. She owned and operated “B&B Painting” with her sister Bonnie. Most recently she worked at the Graceville Nursing Home.

Bev loved spending time with her grandkids and attending her children’s sporting events. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, gardening, decorating, watching HGTV, and playing cards. Beverly was involved in various church organizations at Mt. Olive Lutheran (Watertown) and Bethlehem Lutheran (Beardsley).

Bev courageously battled with cancer for over a year. She passed away at St. Francis Health Care Campus in Breckenridge, MN on October 26, 2008 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband Jake of Graceville; son Curt Schmidt of Wheaton; daughters Christy (Brian) Busse of Breckenridge, Kayla (Scott) Binde of Tea, SD. and Karle of Tea, SD.; Grandchildren, Walker, Parker, and Brooke Busse; Paige, Ryder and Asia Schmidt; and Anna Binde; mother, Elsie Steffan of Graceville; sisters, Bert (Leo) Keller of Menoken, N.D, Bonnie (Dave) Kleindl of Graceville, MN, Betty (Roger) Adams of Watertown S.D and Bridget (Jason) Redemske of Watertown, S.D; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Frank and an infant daughter.
