Arnold Rudolph Ernst was born on February 22, 1916 in Bellingham, MN to parents, Paul Fred and Marie Sophie (Zahn) Archut. Arnold was baptized on March 12, 1916 in Bellingham, MN, and was confirmed on October 6, 1929 in Windom, SD.



Arnold enlisted in the Army - Air Force on September 28, 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN, where he received training for aircraft mechanic. He was stationed at Chanute, IL. Arnold worked on 13-17's, AT-6, and AT 17's. He was later in the 1040 Army ? Air Force Base Unit in Yuma, AZ. Arnold was discharged in Santa Ana, CA on December 17, 1945, and received a Victory Medal and an American Theatre Ribbon.



After serving in the Air Force, Arnold moved near Browns Valley, MN, where he farmed with his parents. In the fall of 2002, Arnold moved into the Browns Valley Health Care Center. Arnold enjoyed farming and reading. He was the chairman of the Becker Township Board, and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley, MN.



On May 29, 2004, Arnold R. Archut died at Avera McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD., reaching the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 7 days.



Arnold was preceded in death by his father Paul, and his mother Mary; his two sisters, Mabel Pistorius, and Viola Kaufman; and one brother LeRoy Archut.



Survivors include one sister in law, Patricia Archut of Fort Wayne, IN, seven nephews, Milton (Donna) Kaufman of Wilmot, SD, Armin (Wanda) Kaufman of Milbank, SD, Virgil Kaufman of Rockford, MN, Don (Jenny) Kaufman of Zimmerman, MN, Clarence (Donna) Pistorious of Browns Valley, MN, James Archut of Arlington, TX, and Robert Archut of San Angelo, TX, four nieces, Lynette (Dennis) Greiner of Wilmot, SD, Grace (Bernie) Greiner of Wilmot, SD, Lavonne (George) Rattelmuller of Columbia, MO, and Deborah (Robert) House of San Angelo, TX.
