Arlene Elizabeth (Dalager) Frederick was born June 1, 1927 to William and Esther Dalager in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up near Glenwood, MN, where she graduated from Glenwood High School in 1945 and moved to Minneapolis. While attending a dance at the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood she met Donald Frederick and they were married on September 13, 1947. Don and Arlene moved to St. Paul where Arlene worked at Brown & Bigelow while Don attended the University of Minnesota. Upon Don's graduation they moved to Clinton and started their family. To this union five daughters were born, Cheryl Ann, Carol Marie, Sharon Kay, Susan Arlene and Jodi Lynn. Arlene spent many hours sewing outfits for her daughters (and their dolls).

Arlene also enjoyed gardening and loved growing roses and many other varieties of flowers. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, and making lefse. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting and making hardanger pieces. After her children were grown she worked as a waitress at the Country Kitchen on Main Street in Clinton and worked as a cook at the Clinton Public School.

Arlene was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active with the Ladies Aid, Bible studies, teaching Sunday School, and church choir, to name a few. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, a Girl Scout leader and volunteer at the Care Center and the Big Stone County Food Shelf. After retirement Arlene and Don spent 20 winters in Arizona where she enjoyed hiking, cards, dancing, kitchen band and clogging. Arlene enjoyed the Frederick girls annual Spring Fling, a weekend of shopping, eating, laughter and fun. She also enjoyed traveling with Don and her children. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arlene was re-united with her Saviour on February 8, 2013 after a brief struggle with cancer.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2009; infant daughter, Cheryl; parents, William and Esther Dalager, brothers Harlan and Hans Dalager, sister Eleanor Dodds; brothers-in-law Clermont Brenden, Florian Wagner, Clyde Dodds, Floyd and Duane Frederick; sisters-in-law Louise Dalager, Helen Frederick; and nephew Steve Meggers.
