Anna Moberg

May 6, 1922 — June 8, 2008

Anne Moberg was born Anna Lomas May 6, 1922 to John and Susanna Lomas in Clariton, PA. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian faith. She attended K-12 in Clariton Public School and graduated at the top of her class. She entered the Navy in 1942 during WWII and was honorably discharged April 1, 1946. During her years in the Navy she worked as a shop keeper, distributing items such as guns, flight jackets, and uniforms to enlisted personnel. It was during the tour of duty that she met her husband of over 50 years, Carlton Anthony Moberg, who was also serving in the Navy. They were married June 1, 1946 at the Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton.

Together they attended the University of MN and earned their degrees in Mortuary Science. After graduating first and second (Anne and Carlton respectively) in their class, they returned to Clinton to start their business as morticians. They worked side by side for 50 years in the business. Anne also started the first Girl Scout troop in Clinton and was very proud of the many girls she worked with over the years. She enjoyed all the Girl Scout activities, camping, and trips they took as troops. Every single girl was special to her and held a permanent place in her heart. She also took a job at the public school as bookkeeper/secretary; she loved her work there and retired after 40+ years.

Her most cherished job in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Anne and Carlton adopted two children, Debra Anne and Rod Carlton, and raised them with unconditional love, encouragement, and strong Christian values. From that came six grandchildren with whom she would take on picnics, long walks, swimming in the lake and tell countless stories to.

After Carlton passed away February 13, 1997, she continued to live in Clinton until 1999 when she moved to Princeton to live with her daughter and family. In August 2003, she moved into the Elim Nursing Home where she passed away, June 8, 2008 at the age of 86.

She is survived by one daughter, Debra (Moberg) and husband Thomas Burdick of Princeton, MN, one son, Rod and his wife, Mary Moberg of Swan River, MN; 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Burdick) Strom, Jessica, Lindsey and Anthony Burdick, Brandon and Brian Moberg; one sister, Irene Helman, Clariton, PA; two brothers, Lou Lomas of Bethel Park, PA and Albert Lomas of Washington, DC; one dog, her beloved Spot. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one brother.
