Allen Reinke

Mundwiler Larson Funeral Home of Ortonville announces the death of Allen Reinke, age 71, of Cedar Rapids, IA. Allen passed away on August 25, 2012.

Services will be 1 P.M. Friday, August 31, 2012, at United Methodist Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, August 30, from 5-7 P.M. at the Mundwiler Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville.

Allen Dale Reinke was born May 13th, 1941, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of John H. and Ester (Johnson) Reinke. He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1959. Following graduation, he left Ortonville and traveled awhile where he met and wed Bonnie L. (Audorff) Reinke on November 17th, 1961. They were blessed with six children, Jeffery, Dean, Kenneth, Kim, Dawn, and Jo-El.



Allen loved all children, and enjoyed taking care of his multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for children was shown thru his charity work with numerous organizations, especially his beloved Special Olympics.



Allen loved sports throughout his life and became a certified baseball umpire, volunteer coach for different teams and actively participated for as long as he could. Any sport would do - from darts to baseball.



Allen worked and lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Iowa, relocating to Cedar Rapids in 1995 where he worked at Bill Whitters Construction until he retired in 2007.



Allen had a passion for music that was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Although he played guitar, he was better known for his singing, which brought joy to himself and others. Throughout the years he had multiple bands and traveled to numerous events to perform. One of his greatest joys was the character that he created, "Uncle Suds". Uncle Suds was viewed by many as he performed the act for many years at the Western Washington Fair in Puyallup, Washington. While he was able, he often sang to his caregivers at St. Luke's Living Center East.



Allen enjoyed travelling to see his children in his later years, with his furthest trip taking him to Japan to meet his grandson in 2004.
Allen will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three sons: Jeffery A. (Lori) Reinke of Yelm, WA., Dean E. (Jessie)Reinke of Devils Lake, ND., Kenneth J. (Mayuki) Reinke of Yokohama, Japan; three daughters: Kim M. (Roy) Clayton of Cedar Rapids, IA., Dawn A. Reinke of Tacoma, WA., and Jo-El E. Weese of Bellevue, NE.; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one older sister, Lorrayne Smith of Woodstock, GA., one younger brother, Mel (Bette) Reinke of Ortonville, MN., and numerous friends & fans.


He is proceeded in death by his parents, John H. and Ester Reinke, four brothers and a sister: Raymond, Willard, Leonard, Murlin and Elaine.
