Albertine Weinman

September 4, 1913 — March 23, 2010

Albertine Nellie Johnson was born on September 4, 1913 to parents Edward and Inga (Olson) Johnson in Otrey Township, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Eidskog Lutheran Church and was raised in the rural Ortonville area. She graduated from Ortonville High School in 1932 followed by a year of teacher training.



Albertine taught grades 1-8 at a Country school in Otrey Township for seven years. On October 12, 1939, Albertine was united in marriage to Gus Weinman in Willmar, MN. To this union, two children were born: Ian and Roger. They raised their children and lived their entire married life on the family farm east of Clinton.



Albertine was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was treasurer of the Ladies Aide. She was also a part of the local Birthday Club. Albertine enjoyed baking, cooking, doing needlework and reading. She loved entertaining and having people over for coffee. Albertine was a caretaker for many, including her parents and her in-laws. She was always there to provide food and support to her friends and family.



Albertine passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria, MN. She had lived to reach the age of 96 years.



Albertine is survived by her children Ian (Eldon) Shelstad of Alexandria, MN and Roger (Connie) Weinman of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren David (Sarah) Shelstad, Karen (Chad) Jokumsen, Kim (Kelly) Hawkinson, Jeff (Tami) Weinman, Sarah (Justin) Bell, Jeremy Weinman; great-grandchildren: Maci and Teigan Jokumsen, Ellie, Katie and Josh Shelstad, Grace and Jackson Hawkinson, and Brennan, MacKenna, and Cameron Bell; and one brother Clarence “Jiggs” Johnson.



She is preceded in death by her husband Gus; parents Ed and Inga; one sister Emily Folkens; and one brother Marvin Johnson.



Larson Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements.
