Agnes Lubbers

Agnes Julia Hormann was born on October 28, 1909, to parents Henry and Katherine (Kruger) Hormann in Wheaton, MN. Aggie grew up on a farm near Wheaton and was baptized and confirmed at a Lutheran Church in Wheaton. She attended country school until the 8th grade. Aggie moved to Minneapolis where she attended beauty school; she continued to live in Minneapolis working as a hair dresser.



On November 13, 1930, Aggie was united in marriage to Herman Lubbers. To this union, they were blessed with eight children: Joan Janice, Norma Jean, Roger Wayne, Ralph Herman, Audrey Agnes, Dennis Peter, Patricia Annette and Eileen Marie. After they were married, they lived on a farm near Browns Valley until 1972, when they then moved into Browns Valley.



Aggie worked as a cook at Headstart in Browns Valley until her retirement in 1985. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a very good dancer. Aggie and Herman enjoyed square dancing; they would go to the Coliseum in Browns Valley to dance. Their children learned to dance in the living room of their home to Lawrence Welk. Family was everything to Aggie. She loved children and was very selfless in helping her children take care of their children. Aggie also loved to read and would read newspapers up until the very end of her life.



Aggie died on October 11, 2009, at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley just 17 days shy of her 100th birthday.



Aggie is survived by her children: Norma (Andrew) Masley of Banning, CA, Ralph (Rose) Lubbers of Booneville, Miss, Audrey (Jerry) Nigg of Green Valley, AZ, Dennis (Beverly) Lubbers of Browns Valley, MN, Patricia (David) Ecker of Browns Valley, MN, and Eileen (David) Raw of Lake Norden, SD; 17 Grandchildren; 10 Step-Grandchildren; 21 Great-Grandchildren; 10 Step-Great-Grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; one sister Alma Crooks of Wheaton, MN; and many nieces and nephews.



Aggie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman in 1977; son Roger in 1938; daughter Joan in 1993; and six siblings.



Larson Funeral Home in Browns Valley is in charge of arrangements.
