Funeral services for Agnes Lydia Christeson of Clinton will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Elim Free Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN. Pastor David Hinrichs will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, August 4, 2008 from 6-8:00 PM at Elim Free Lutheran Church in Clinton, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Clinton City Cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers will be Dennis Carlson, Rodney Carlson, Ernest Carlson, Gary Lindquist, Harold Cooper, and Steven Carlson.



Agnes Lydia Carlson was born October 11, 1922 to Gust and Anna (Anderson) Carlson on the family farm near Ortonville, MN. Agnes was baptized at Elim Lutheran Church on May 8, 1925 and was also confirmed there on July 4, 1937. She graduated elementary school District 21 on July 6, 1937, and graduated from Clinton High School on May 29, 1941.



Agnes was united in marriage to Kenneth Christeson on June 30, 1941 in an outdoor ceremony at the Carlson family farm three miles south of Clinton.

They had two children: Darrell and Carol. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in June.



Agnes lived her life well--she was the busy farm wife, always cooking, taking lunches to the field, mowing the yard, canning and all the other farm chores.



Agnes was always very involved in her church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and participating in many groups including, the Altar Guild, Ladies Aide and Bible Study. She was also involved in the Malta Homemaker’s Club. She really loved singing; in the car with her family, and she would even sing songs in Swedish with her sisters.



Agnes was known for her cooking, baking skills, and her hospitality. The coffee pot was always on; lunch and snacks were always ready to be served to her many guests. An organized entertainer, she prepared delicious meals for many occasions and the food was always served at the designated time.

Agnes and Kenneth spent 28 years as “snow birds” in Weslaco, Texas, playing cards and dancing the winters away.



Our Lord called Agnes home on Saturday August 2, 2008 at Ortonville Health Services the age of 85 years.



Agnes is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Clinton; two children: Darrell of Lobelville, TN and Carol (William) Gorder of Rochester, MN; grandchildren: Stephanie (Cori) Peete of Memphis, TN, Roger Christeson of Bartlett, TN, Bruce (Traci) Gorder of Kenyon, MN, Leah (Terry) Dobson of Rochester, MN, and William (Justine) Gorder of Rochester, MN; great-grandchildren: Lyvia and Isaiah Peete, Devin Christeson, and Dustin Hebel; great-great-grandchild Logan Hebel; step-great-grandchildren: Randy, David, Marisa Dohrmann, Travis, Brandon and Renae Dobson, Anthony Lev; step-great-great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Dohrmann and Diego Clavel; sisters-in-law: LaVerne Ritter of Rolette, TX, Doris (Dr. Kenneth) Henry of Owatonna, MN, Catherine Christeson of Graceville, MN, and Marge Christeson of Sidney, NB; brothers-in-law: LeRoy (Libby) Christeson of Anderson, SC and Edward (Betty) Christeson of Clinton, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.



Agnes is preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, and 8 brothers.
